Tears of Joy

Tears of Joy

I had the opportunity to watch CNN the entire today in my office at work. I never knew how emotional that I was going to be until this day came. It is something that unexplainable. It was amazing to see people of all walks of life, races, and back grounds sacrifice to go to DC to be apart of this day in history.

I believe the most emotional part for me was seeing how humble our new President is and hearing his speech and his charge for us as Americans. The tears came down on their own and I did not even realize they were coming down and how emotional this day was. Personally, it made me realize that a change has come although we all have a lot of work to do as a nation and a people. I am motivated not only for myself, but for the future of our child and or children to come.

Angela,
I cried the entire afternoon. Moreso, when I saw them entering the building to come out to be announced, when he was sworn in and all of that. Then it started again during the parade. I am so glad I did not wear mascara yesterday!

Alisa,
It was a beautiful day in history and it was such a peaceful day as well. So many people came out to show their support. I have never seen anything on that magnitude before in my thirty some years of living.

I really did not get to enjoy it like I wanted to because people kept coming in the office. I so wanted to tell them to be quiet for a moment. But I do understand the emotion of the day. I had that same feeling after voting and seeing the many people in my area that came out to exercise their rights. I cried all day that day.

We as younger people do understand the importance of this day. I more so because my family taught me about our history.

I will make sure that when I become a parent I do the same.

Kristy, back in November, I think I was too stunned to cry. I couldn't believe how quickly the electoral votes added up and was happily in shock that our next prez would be B.O.! I think I blogged about being so full of emotion, but unable to shed a tear. Yesterday, my eyes were watery. :-) It was so obviously God-ordained.

KMR,
I am sorry that you were disturbed by your co-workers. That can be a pain. Hopefully you can get a copy of it from someone who taped it!
You are right...I think more of our younger generation are "getting it" now and experiencing the new changes. I hope that it continues.

Tricia,
I was internally emotional during the voting and the election night--like you, however I did not cry like I did yesterday. Yesterday, I had tears streaming during different times yesterday. I think I teared up a little back in November, but I was still in shock and yesterday my soul just let it go!
