Nice Surprises

I am a kid at heart. Today, when I went to the mailbox I had this cute little package in there addressed to me. It was from my best friend in NC who was also my roommate our Sophomore through Senior year while we were in undergrad together. We met our freshman year and have been tight every since then. I had no idea she was sending a surprise to me this week.

We always send each other gifts without saying anything. Her latest surprise is this pink and green Vera Bradley set that I received today in the mail. I purchased the VB pink and green paisley tote about 4 years ago and I wear it every maybe once or twice a year and it is typically in the summer time.

She sent me a matching brag book that looks like a snap purse, and a little journal book. I will be taking this to work to my office.

We have been best friends since 1990 we met our freshman year, so we have been through the good, the bad, and the ugly together over the past almost 19 years. We know each other so well and we are able to pick up things and shop and know that it is something that will be appreciated. The funny part about our friendship is that we can still giggle like little girls all of the time about random things.

This cute little VB brag book that she sent will come in handy when we receive our little cupcake.

Although we have both become busy in our lives with our careers and such, we still make take for each other. We talk every other day or two if not daily depending on our schedules and we encourage each other through things. She is so supportive of this adoption and gets anxious when I call her to give her an update on things. She acts just as if she is receiving a baby by her excitement for us. However, this is encouraging her to adopt as well in the future.

I am so proud of her and we keep each other encouraged. Now, in her thirties she is an Assistant Superintendent over a school system, and a fairly large system. Anyone that knows anything about moving up to administration positions in school systems knows that it is a huge accomplishment. Most people do not land such a position until they are in their fifties or on their way out for retirement.

I am happy at the fact that no matter how busy we have gotten, we have managed to make time to talk to one another. Now, I just need to tell her to catch up on the blog. I guess she doesn't really need to since we talk so often!

Excuse the picture and lighting. I still have not sat down and read the manual for this camera. I purchased it back in the summer and I have been pointing and clicking and not utilizing all of the features. Pure laziness I guess. I will read it soon because it is frustrating not having the pictures come out right.

Thanks for the surprise Dr. P. !

Hey Kristy,

I love Vera Bradley as well. That particular pattern is one of my favorites.

Hey Angela,
I actually love that chocolate and blue patterned one. I think I may get something in that pattern in the spring. I saw it last year, but I wasn't pressed. They are really cute and girly purses when you want a change.

I just noticed a comment you made on a different blog and checked out your blog. How great is that gift! We adopted a little girl from Ethiopia, but I think it is great that your are listening to the domestic avenue which God is leading you towards. I think I was too scared to take that route, and it all worked out as we have our daughter now! Great blog and good luck!
