parties...

I have been a little busy this summer taking pictures for some friends. I was asked to do two major parties earlier this summer in June. The first party was a carnival and I helped her at the last minute with some print items. The second party was the day after the carnival and it was a super hero birthday party for a little girl. Both children turned two that weekend.

Here is a collage for the carnival party that I did for my friend's son's carnival. It was a well attended carnival with at least 75 beautiful little ones and tons of adults. It was the hottest day that we had experienced at that point. I made it through the afternoon in the heat getting some wonderful shots of the kids and my husband assisted me.

The carnival included an all inclusive clown with carnival. The clown brought 2 jumpers, games, music, face painted, prizes, popcorn, funnel cakes, icees, nachos and several tents set up. She had workers for all stations and the jumpers. The workers were her immediate family
(her husband and older daughters). I have been using the clown for about 4 years for my neighborhood's annual pool carnival and I love her services. She is well worth her price.

I will try to do a board to post pictures from the second party as well. After doing both parties that weekend, I was asked to do several more parties coming up this year. So, it was a good thing for me.

My love of photography as a hobby and creating print designs has turned into something that I can get compensated for as well in the future once I have perfected my skills and mastered my camera. Having the opportunities to take pictures at large parties for favors right now assists me with improving in different areas and becoming more comfortable with my camera. I am looking forward to taking a serious workshop on lighting and understanding my camera in the next two months or so.

I designed the favor tags, header for gift table and gift information card. I will post pictures of those as well. I designed a gift information card specifically for her theme because she loved having a gift information card when we did her baby shower two years ago. She said it was so helpful when writing thank you cards. She knew that she had the correct address and that she was thanking the right person for the gift. It is just something to think about when you are having large events. We had guests to fill them out when they dropped off gifts in her foyer on the gift table before heading outside to the carnival. It was quick and easy and everyone was accounted for! It is just something to think about.

Cleaning...

We finally packed up all of Miss Sunshines clothing that were still hanging in her closet in our guest bedroom with tags. I do not think I realized how much clothing we had for her until we began this task. I am not for sure why it took us several months to clean her closet out, but we did it earlier this month. I decided to clean out a few of my closets over the 4th of July weekend and I included the closet she was using.

I actually redecorated the bed back in April, however, I never got around to taking things out of the closet. I love changing comforters and accessorizing. I believe that I change bedding almost as much as I change under clothing! I enjoy seeing a new look in a room from season to season and seal the previous bedding in storage bags to use at a later time. The room has been shades of purple for almost 5 years and we have managed to still decorate around it. So, now, it is back to being another guest bedroom again. It will always be little Miss Sunshine's room when she comes to visit.

We are currently trying to figure out how to send her a few items when school starts so that we will know that she has clothing that will fit. I think we are going to only send 1 or 2 outfits at a time and I will have her great aunt make sure that she gets them and wears them. We do not want them sold.
Those who know me well know that I shop early and I am very savvy. By early March, I already had her summer clothes, and back to school clothes as well. She was supposed to stay here through Kindergarten. I wanted to have things prepared for back to school clothing as well since she was no longer going to be in a preschool. So, needless to say, we have many storage containers of clothing with tags. It is not in vain. The clothing will go to good use soon or later in the future. I enjoyed all of the girly items that she had and shopping for her.

I had to share a few pictures of some of my favorite items for her before we packed them away to put in the basement.

I am playing catchup with the blog. I will try to catch things up this week with all that I have been doing and what is going on with us! Stay Tuned!
