These are just a few shots of some things that we have purchased over the past couple of months since we decided we were going to adopt. My, My, things sure did add up over time. We truly do need to go ahead and purchase furniture for the room so many of the things that are hanging up can go into the drawers. I do not have any more room to hang up anything. The last bag of purchases can not fit into the closet. We are going to definitely have to get a custom closet system, very soon. My initial purchases were done when we were in the Ethiopia program, so I was trying to buy a little at a time while when we first started. I am one of those people who never wants to get caught out there unprepared. Thats just my personality.
The Travel System (Graco Quattro Tour) stroller rolls like a luxury sedan. It has a temperature gauge and all. Even a place to keep your sunglasses/and or wipes. It was at the top of Consumer Reports travel systems as well. We spent two hours in Babies R Us trying to decide on whether to purchase 1 infant car seat or this travel system. It made more since to get the travel system. I guess we will go get the infant car seat with base that we initially chose as our next larger ticket item. After that, we only need one more carset. We decided on getting
2 Chicco's for the infant seats and we already have the Graco infant carrier that we can leave at home for third car or take for in home day care to leave.
We decided on the Chicco Keyfit for the infant carseat. That may change, depending on what the class or fire department says. The agency told us to check with the carseat training classes as well since they give valuable information regarding the type of seat that you should purchase as well according to the type of vehichle that you have. We both are aware of how to use the latch systems and we are not strangers to carseats and keeping kids, but we will still go to one of the trainings or stop by the fire department to see what they say as well. We already have in mind which covertible car seat that we will purchase later or register for.
We decided not to purchase anymore gender specific items. Thats why we are focusing on furniture, car seats, co-sleepers, bouncers, play yards and swings at this point.
Yes, I have been told that I need to save some things for others to purchase. However, we will save things for others to purchase. I have just never relied on other people to purchase anything for me. We will get what we plan on getting and then register for items that we did not get. However, it really makes it much easier on you when you can buy a little at a time. You really do not feel it. You are able to acquire a lot of items over a short period of time without breaking the bank!
FYI: The toybin in the picture was something that I kept all of my educational toys in for when our god children and other friends would come over. It is currently being used for storing these small purchases. It will not remain in the room when the nursery is being worked on. It will probably go in the basement and then out the door. I am trying to purge more.

OH MY GOSH!
That child won't need clothes for a year. LOL! She's going to be one lucky little girl. I'm so excited for you! LOL!
Actually, these are majority sleep, layettes and playware type outfits. Its a few regular outfits in there. I have not actually done strictly "outfit shopping" and shopping for dresses yet. I have outfits from birth -12 months. The majority are actually outfits to get us by and I focused on 3-6 months. It is a lot of stuff. However, I have been doing savvy shopping since we started by going to places that have all of the major department store brands, but marked down. I have chilled on the gender purchases at this point. Thanks for the well wishes. It is so much to purchase for a baby. We just wanted to be prepared and have enough to get started so we wouldn't have to run out and purchase things at the last minute.
Funny! My stuff is a variety of sizes because Baby I will be no older than 6 months at referral...whenever that is. LOL I'm type A also though. okay, inbetween A and something else.
Me too Tami! Somewhere between A and something else, but primarily A. I started off purchasing mostly 3-6 and 6-9 months when we were in the Ethiopia program. I started off with those sizes and went to 12 months, but the bulk of it was 3-9 months old. You will have your baby soon. The great thing about the ET program is that you have time to build your nest egg while you are waiting for the arrival of your baby.
