Being Patient

Our Fingerprint appointment was scheduled for this afternoon at a particular government agency here. The lady at the office called this morning around 10:45am to inform us that the office is closing today at noon and she is having to cancel all of the afternoon appointments.

She said she was not aware that the office was closing early today and they are not open tomorrow, New Years Eve. We were up already in sweats (not dressed to go out) and we knew that we could make it, but we had to stop and get money orders from the bank for the fingerprinting agency and get the bank to notarize the fingerprint document to take in. We were hoping that we could have this taken care of today as scheduled since my husband is off today and tomorrow.

We rescheduled for later this week. Completing this adoption is very important to us, but it is a challenge sometimes when you feel as if others are not considerate of your schedule as well. I just wish that we were called a little earlier so that we could have taken care of this morning and called it a day.

We went round and round with her on the phone trying to find a time that we could both come back in since they close before most people get off work anyway, and I wanted this taken care of before I went back to work since my schedule is not so flexible. I guess the lady felt bad because she knew this was for an adoption process and she did try to work with us in terms of being flexible with rescheduling.

While the adoption is top priority and taking care of this is important, we still have jobs to go to and I have been trying to avoid missing any unnecessary time off work for additional appointments that can be taken care of during vacation. I am somewhat anal when it comes to sticking to schedules and making sure that we meet our deadlines, while still not abusing the flexibility of my husbands job with these appointments that we have to attend.

I guess this is where your patience is tested and we have to learn to roll with the flow, even when it is out of our control.

Surprisingly, I wasn't the one that was upset over the time being changed, it was my other half!

He is fine now, and he realizes that many things are out of our control, but I guess his issue was "professional courtesy" and giving us advanced notice since we were on a time line with vacation and other factors. We are going to go get the money orders today for the fingerprinting and get the letter notarized since that was our original plan anyway. Everything will be ready for our appointment.

Soror, the adoption journey is a character builder/shaper/refiner in and of itself! The people connected to your blessing (folks at each agency you will have to deal with) will either grey-hair you or give-you-more-grace-to-go-on. You decide what you want (dyed hair vs smiles)...LOL!!!

Have a Blessed New Year as you enter in 2009 --- my family will be praying for you two as you prepare for Gods little Gift!

P.S....if you don't see me posting for a while, it's because I'm about our Father's business and what He's called me to do for the next few weeks in ministry.

Thank you Soror,
You are so correct. I have exercised patience thus far, because I do understand all of this is according to his time. I have learned not to worry, because it is pointless.

I am so thankful to all of our friends and family who are straight forward with us in regards to this process, because it is not a cake walk, and not for the weak at heart and those who lack faith.
We will be tested and thats for sure. I have grown a lot through out this process so far. While they are up front and honesty with sincerity, they demonstrate passion with their adoption mission work.

We have been so blessed with our agency. They are the most friendliest and spiritual people that I have ever seen, and so personal. They have such a positive outlook on everything and are very patient. It is amazing. I think their calm spirt calms the families and doesn't create anxiety.

By the way, my gray strands are showing a little. It is time for a high light to give me a little kick. I haven't had any color in a while.

Thank you for your prayers, and we will continue to pray for your process as well. This will be an exciting year with the new blessings arriving.

I will check on you while you are busy with ministry activities. I totally understand. My frequency of blogging will decrease after next week, when the reality of work coming back and classes starting back for me in addition to all of my other activities.

I will definitely keep in touch with you. We will have a very busy month this month with our chapter. I will share pics with you later this month.
