Learning to be a savvy grocery shopper...
Saturday at my meeting during one of the segments we had a guest speaker come talk to us about coupons and how to really make them work. I have really been wanting to know the secrets to this. We actually had one of the masters at this that has been featured on different shows. Once she explained how it worked in detail and gave us handouts to follow along, it came to life in my mind!
A few of us that were sitting on the same row were so excited and we were ready to put this knowledge to use. Some people are already using the techniques and are familar with how to cut the grocery bill down to 90%. I have not been that savvy! She is even hosting a workshop next month on how to make use of the coupons, double coupons, store savings, and how to make things work.
I thought this was very interesting and helpful considering our economy right now. I am definitely going to use her suggested strategies at my next grocery store visit this weekend.
Let me know if any of you guys have this down to a science and have also cut your bills down 50-90%. This was awesome. I am an ABC person, and there is a science to making this work, and on Saturday she told us how to make it work.

I went to a meeting on coupons. Did great the first couple of trips but found I was buying things just because I had a coupon. I really need to get better at it.
Can you share some of the tips you learned?
I think my best was about 40% savings.
Debbie,
I will email you the paper that she distributed at our meeting. In addition, her site offers a 10.00 book with all of the details. I was not able to get on the site yesterday due to the server being down, but I left it on my post so that others could go on when it began working. She was featured on Good Morning America as well.
One of the main tips she noted was to get two Sunday papers for every person in your family. I will scan the document this afternoon and email it to you. Hopefully the site will begin working soon so that you can get a lot of information.
I WISH I was better at it...
Feeding my family of four CAN be expensive. It would be even worse if I "actually" cooked. We do lots of quick meals, which is bad for the health. I need to get better at the whole menu/shopping thing, especially when I live 40 minutes away from a real grocery store.
Wow Jodi,
You live 40 minutes away from a grocery store! How do you manage?
This coupon stuff works.
Hopefully the site will be working again so you guys can click on it to get the information on the coupns and how things work.
Oh - YUP, 40 minutes from the store. That means when I make a trip to town (and I always have at least two children with me), my trips in to the store are always rushed. I usually do the Wal-Mart stop because I can get everything in one spot. I really don't like Wal-Mart (sorry if I offend anyone with that comment), but I don't want to drag kids in and out of three different stores. Shopping is tough in small town South Dakota!~
Kristy, I am a coupon nut! I have a spreadhseet and keep all of my coupons in an organized binder! I will send you my spreadhseets. I save no less than 50% on each shopping trip and I LOVE triple coupons!
God's blessings to you in being a good steward over all that He has given you!
