Almost Done

Wheew!
We are almost finished with all of our paperwork and process. Hubby had his home study individual interview today with the social worker. The next and final visit will be at our home on a date that we schedule.

Hubby said that his individual interview went well today and we only have some small pieces of information that we have to get turned in. Those final documents actually can be picked up by the SW when she comes to our home for the last visit.

The final documents that we have to get which are simple are: our dog's shot records, drug tests, copy of insurance for other cars, and child preference form. The child preference form is a form that the PAP fill out where they check off what they are comfortable with being in their child's birth family's history etc.

Hubby stated that our SW advised him today that there is currently only 1 family waiting, not including us. We are the second family that will be waiting for a referral once we complete these final items. She also advised him that they are having another orientation later this month in which they have 5 families registered to attend. She also asked him again if we were open to either sex, because she knew that I was kind of bent on a girl since we initially were requesting a girl when we were in the ET program.

Our SW advised us that she would bring us copies of profiles books in the event that we need to see examples. We have an idea of how we are going to put the profile book together since we have been thinking about it for a couple of months. We are trying to create something colorful and unique that shows who we are.

I initially thought that we were dragging our feet a little bit and taking too long to get the information submitted. However, I realized that we just determined at the end of October that we were going to move forward with a domestic adoption. So, actually, we have done well with managing our time and getting things done being that this is just February.

I have learned that it really takes time and devotion to get all of the documents in. It requires patience and follow up calls to others when you need to complete the check off lists.
My plans are to complete the missing items this coming week since I have some time off. Then we can relax a little after we give them our profile book in addition to working on the nursery. The only thing that puts me a little on edge at times is knowing that sometimes things happen quickly and we do not have months to prepare for a baby. We are ahead of our timeframe that we set up initially with the SW.

I will try to do a better job about updating the blog on our progress as things move forward. The paperwork, my job, classes, and life have kept me kind of busy the past couple of weeks and I have not been able to keep up with the blog world.

Soror, take care of "First Things" first. We understand and will sweetly wait with patience for blogging updates. Keep your energy for getting that baby home!

P.S. Drink lots of water (I don't know why I said that, but go do it). :)

Looks like somebody's gonna have themselves a baby pretty soon!

Congrats on the short waitlist!

The paperwork and SW visits seem endless but it's all very worth it! Have fun putting your profile together--I actually really enjoyed that part.

Soror E.,
Thank you for the advice. I received that clearly! Thanks for the advice on the water...I need it and I have been doing better with drinking my water. Maybe you know something or spoke something that I do not even know yet. Things are said for reasons!

Angela,
Girl, listen, we are patiently waiting. I am not in a hurry since my nursery is not complete and I desired to at least have things somewhat completed! We are being prayerful that God will deliver this baby at the time he desires, and we will just have to cope. I am fine if things do not motivate or come forth until early summer to be honest. Actually, that is when we prefer. However, things do not work exactly how we would like them to be. So, we will see.

A friend at the salon said that her coworker received her baby about two weeks ago here. She received a new born baby girl. She told me about her back in the fall and she finally received her baby. She was so excited for her and she said the co worker brought in pictures of her and she is a doll. It is exciting to hear testimonies of others receiving their blessings.

Miles Mama,
Thanks. We are exciting about putting the book together. My husband is very excited about doing all of the graphics himself to customize each page and the book.
I am looking for a place where we can get a book cover or customize the book cover ourselves via his design work. Thank God for Macs and Iphoto since they keep all of your pictures organized by dates. That is one of the great things about Macs.
I may have to contact you about the profile book.

Hey Ms. KMR,
Thanks for understanding! Blogging was new to me when we started this process and it opened up a whole new world with communication and journaling. However, everyday life responsibilities are still present. It is so easy to get wrapped up in blogging and reading on the computer for hours. So, I have to manage my time wisely at this point.
I will definitely do better updating with little posts. Thanks for your patience!

Angela,
I hope that you and hubby have a wonderful weekend! I hope that you post about it. Enjoy your time together with one another.

We are doing simple dinner with some friends at a restaraunt here tomorrow. I have chapter meeting in the morning, so it will be a busy day.
Hugs and Kisses
Kristy

Tricia,
Thanks. Yes, we are at peace and we are so much at peace at this point. It is what it is. Whenever it happens, it happens. It will all happen in the time that God wants it to happen. I am not trying to rush anything at this point!
Happy Valentines day to you and yours as well!

Oh yes I remember the paper chase. Glad it's all coming together for you.
I tried and tried to prepare our family for an instant baby but they never did believe me. And that's exactly what happened for us but we had a week to prepare before she came home.
Be sure to post pictures of the nursery. What colors are you doing?

Debbie,
yes it is definitely a paper chase, but it is worth it. I am trying not to get caught off guard. We would like to have as much as we can prepared for a baby. The nursery was a blank canvas (an empty room and bathroom that was not decorated really besides paint). We are changing the colors and we have a few colors in mind, but we have not settled on the final colors yet due to a couple of factors. Currently, the custom closet is being worked on and we have a few other things that we have spread out to do in the room. I will email you some of the color combinations that we have in mind. Actually my husband has come up with them, but ofcourse if I knew the sex for sure, it would be a little easier. Currently we are focused on gender neutral, like earth tones that can have another color added in the mix once we know a sex.
