We hand delivered our profile to the agency today around lunch time after we left a doctors appointment, blood work and all of that good stuff (nothing bad, all good, all good!)
Actually, we had to take 2 copies of the profile. This felt really good to get out of our hands. Trust me. It was time to get that document out of our hands.
I will post pictures later that I took of the two books that we left at the agency.
The little lady at the front desk (their Secretary) loved our profile book and was tickeled to death when she started looking through it. She said that she wanted to look through it before she took it back to the director because she gets to see the profile books that come through being the front desk person. She told us that the birth families will really love what we have created since it was like a keepsake.
She asked us, how did you get these pictures printed on the pages perfect like this and shaped like that. I looked at hubby and smiled. It was all of his design work. It was truly a work of art and printed on paper that you would publish a book with colored photos, in terms of paper quality.
We were also able to meet the new director over the agency and she was thrilled that we brought the profiles in. She advised us that they are showing the profiles this coming week and she was very excited. The Director was going to go ahead and take our books back to her office to lock them up and the Secretary told her that she wanted to look at them first and she took them back from the Director! Old School, I tell ya!
Our profile was a total of 20 pages (including the BM letter, that we addressed by saying Hello). We had tons of pictures of family, events and everything. We designed it like a book and had each page printed on 12x12 pages. Everything was color and each page was designed differently. After my husband brought the printed document home to put into the book last night I saw some small errors (nothing big). We can fix those and when we print more copies and they will be perfect in the event that we have to take more. Hopefully not because we put them in nice books. We would hope that the person or persons that look at our book will almost feel like they are apart of our family after seeing our profile book.
My husband even asked me, " They're not going to let people walk off with the book if we haven't had a placement with them, are they?" I said, "I should hope not". They are big books, and really only the families who select the adoptive family should take the book. Thats just my opinion, because it is a such a personal keepsake document, why would anyone want it if they didn't select the family?
I will try to do a post another day on the order of our profile and how we arranged it.

I would love to see a pic of it Kristy. Congratulations!
I bet you guys will be getting a call real soon!
Thanks, Angela. I will try to post the pictures later today that we took of the books while we were at the agency.
Terrie,
We will see if it is a "match" or "right fit"!
It is funny because another mom emailed and asked me if the agency already told the families about us because many times they do that and then the profile book is asked for to make it "real" to the families looking at them. I told her that I didn't know because I didn't ask.
I do know that our SW communicates with the caseworkers for the families, so who knows.
I didn't want to ask too many questions because that is my way of protecting my feelings and not becoming attached to something that may or may not manifest.
However, they have a lot going on with showings, so we will see. In actuality, when we sent in our application back in the winter we did a nice little photo collage/spread with several pictures as well, so they had that too.
I am not too pressed right now because I am a realist and I like to know that a "deal is sealed" before I get all excited!
I'm so excited for you two. I wish we could see it too!
Did you make a duplicate book for your journey memories? I know that's a dumb question---forget I asked it and nope, I'm not going to hit the backspace key to delete it...I'm letting that dumb question rest on this page for the entire blog community to read how dumb I get late at night.
I can't imagine they would let anyone take them since they are actual books. We only had a one page front and back and we printed 15 copies for expectant moms to take with them.
Congratz on officially & finally being done with all the paperwork. I hope you don't have to use another agency so you can truly be done with it all.
Lovenotes,
Yes, we have extras. We have the document saved as a file! No need to feel bad it was an honest question. We actually have to send in a hard copy to the SW for their files.
You really tickle me with your responses and it surely lightens up the seriousness of the final phases of the adoption process. Thanks for your humor, I always look forward to your motherly and humoruous responses!
I will try to do a sneak peak of a few pages of the profile one day this week once I upload them for a day.
Debbie,
I found out that only the family that places with us will get a copy of the profile with our permission.
If things work out with our agency we will not have to go to another agency, however I will be able to submit our completed profile to our agency of choice (kind of on standby) if there are not several options here. We are hoping that things will work out with our agency.
Yes, I will be glad when this is all over, but it is worth the wait.
You are definitely on the home stretch and I'd love to see a picture of the book also. It sounds like you put a lot of time and thought into that and birthmoms love that. I'm sure you'll be matched quickly and can't wait to hear more updates.
Thanks Carol.
I will show it soon for probably a day. I am not for sure of how soon or quickly this will take. They do not have a large number of birth parent situations, but things could change by the day. We will see. The teams met this week and the showings are actually next week.
