I wanted to share some pictures from our family vacation at Myrtle Beach the week of the 12th. I took about 375 pictures during our vacation with family. I should have made my slide show when I downloaded the pictures, and I would still have them. When we returned, I down loaded all of the pictures to my hubby's Mac on last Monday into Iphoto.
I did load about 5 pictures on my FB account and I will share those, since that is all I have.
On Thursday, my husband installed a program on his Mac that was given to him so that he could look at our neighborhood's security camera's and not have to use my PC to monitor the activity at the amenities in the neighborhood. Needless to say, when he installed the program there was some sort of glitch with running it and the program kept running. He made an appointment and took the computer to the Apple Store to have the techs look at it. Unfortunately all of our pictures from June and July that he had not backed up.
However, the pictures are somewhere on the computer and we will probably have to pay several hundred dollars for a recovery specialist to find the missing pictures and all of the data that we had. So, hopefully, one of hubby's co workers will be able to retrieve everything so that we will not have to lose the recent data put on the computer. If not, we are waiting on one of the locations that the Apple store recommended for a recovery specialists. The Apple store did not wipe it clean on yesterday so that we would have an opportunity to have a recovery specialist to recover the data to try to recover the recent information saved on the computer.
Let this be a lesson learned to all, to immediately back up all of your pictures instantly when you download them. I am praying and hoping that are our pictures will be recovered by the specialists. I was one of the main persons taking pictures of everyone at the beach and I captured so many beautiful shots of everyone during that week. We had so many family members present that it would be a shame to lose all of those pictures.
Besides that, mostly everyone was relying on me to email or send the pictures out on discs so that they could print their own pictures. This was truly a hurtful lesson to learn on my behalf. In addition, I was in the process of putting our family vacation into our profile for the adoption agency. It is really a shame.

that is horrible. Unfortunatly I know how you feel. Before I got my laptop I had a desktop that crashed. Lost almost eveything.
Hope you get everything back.
Hopefully we will have the pictures recovered once a specialists gets into his computer. He did not let the MAC store restore it because we would have lost everything if they would have cleaned things up to get it running again. They suggested leaving it as is until a recovery specialists looks at it to get the items that were downloaded last like the pictures.
This was truly a lesson learned. I did not back these up because my husband does all of the backing up of the files and pictures. However, he had not backed up anything since June.
Not sure if it will work for you, but try datarescue.com/photorescue. It does a photo rescue from a memory card and for me it found every single picture that I had ever taken on my photo card that had ever been on there, even ones that I deleted. When Amelia was born, I had pictures of her and her birthmother and I plugged my photo card into my computer and something happened, I still have no idea, but all of a sudden my pictures were gone. I called my husband in tears and almost hysterics thinking I had lost those pictures. Then I found this program and it got them all back for me and only cost me $30. (And lots of prayers :) Plus, it will look for them first and if it recovers what you want, then you buy the program, if it doesn't work for you you haven't lost any money. Just a thought, hope you get them back!
Deanna,
Thank you so much for the recommendation. I will go there tonight. I tried another site yesterday recommended by one of my blog buddies and the program did not recognize my camera drive on my laptop last night. I was thinking of getting a card reader. I will try this one tonight to see if it works. We are supposed to have someone look at his MAC tomorrow to try to recover the data instead of cleaning it because we would lose the unsaved photos downloaded.
The other program that I tried last night works the same way as yours suggested. It allows the person to see if the pictures are there as well. I think the other site was 49.00. I will definitely try yours tonight. We lost our profile that we were finalizing as well, but we started things over and my husband is going to design the pages over again that he designed.
I think I was hurt moreso because I lost all of the family vacation pictures and I had some really good pictures of everyone at our family event. That made me sad because I was going to add in some our family vacation to the profile. I am sure that you can relate!
Thanks so much for the suggestion. I will keep you posted on the recovery efforts on his MAC for the pictures and my efforts for reading my memory card on my laptop.
