Practice makes

perfect....and I need a lot of practice!

Here are a few practice shots that I took last night with the camera. I have not ventured with all of the different settings yet. However, I am practicing with a few of the settings and it will take some time. I am enjoying the practice.

We went to a Best Buy in a neighboring city/county to pick up a large memory device for the camera last night and on our way there we saw a mini carnival in one of the mall's parking lot. We decided to stop by and snap a few shots to test the camera out. We took the pictures from the parking space beside the carnival.

I kept it on auto settings for most of them because I was not comfortable with the other settings. I love the picture of the ferris wheel and the sky. It was about 9:20pm last night when we took these pictures.
I will not continue to subject my readers to practice pictures. I posted these as a point of reference for myself over the next few months as my photography skills improve. I am sure that the pictures that I will post will gradually improve over time.

Angela,
I have fallen in love with hubby's MAC's. I love Iphoto. I just plug the cameras in and it automatically downloads the pictures and everything is in order. It is wonderful. I have PC's, but he has always worked on MAC's and now I am a MAC lover after years of seeing him work on it. Years ago, I thought they were complicated because they were different from my PC's, but you can do so much with them and I am sold now. My next laptop will be a MAC for sure.
I am still reading the books. I received so many books and CD's. I am just starting with the mini book, pocket guide (slim version), and the Macro lens book with helpful tips.
Just read a little at a time. I can't take but so much at a time anyway. Have you been practicing with yours?

Yeah, I have tons of pics. I like the natural light setting. I took pics of my nephews yesterday. I promise to download them, especially for the 14 year old.

You didn't have to program the computer with the disk? That's neat. My son bought MAC laptop last week but I'm not touching it.

My first addition for my camera is the EF60 or EF100 macro lens. Look in the back of the macro lens book for them. I really bought it to take really close up shots of flower petals, bugs, and neat portrait affects that only the macro lens will produce.

When I invest in different lenses including a wide angle later on, I'll be on the ball.

Hey got to do it right:)

Hey, maybe I should check out the EOS 50D before my 90 day return ends. That's the camera Julie's husband has. It takes cool images.

I'm not into gadgets but I'm artistic. This looks like it may do what I'm wanting.

I took some pictures of flowers and bugs today after the rain at lunch time! I have a great lens that I ordered with the kit that I ordered. I have been practicing with the close ups. I have another lens that I will purchase later after I get used to this one.

I am currently using the EF28-135mm zoom lens. It has been fabulous thus far. I want to purchase the EF70-300mm next. I am good right now with the lens that I have.

No, I did not have to download anything. I plugged it in and turned the camera on and the pictures popped up in IPHOTO just like with my Sony.

I can not wait to take action shots. I can get 6.3 fps with this baby. No more blurry pictures!!

Also check with Walmart on line and compare their prices on the lens.

It is a neat camera. Canon makes great products and you cant go wrong with the Rebel, it is a great camera.

Play with it first and then go for what you know. If you can get what you need from yours then keep it and just upgrade the lenses. Its a hard call for me to say. I went to the camera shop and played with both of them and told the guy what I was wanting while we were testing them and I ended up researching the 50D closely afterwards. Let me know what you decide. The new macro lenses are nice and I definitely want to upgrade to one later. The clarity on the flowers and insects is awesome. I haven't mastered my zooms and settings yet, so I need to sit down.

Learning my camera and how to take better pictures is a hobby I had planned to pick up last summer. Hmm... never happened.
Great pictures. Have fun learning and being creative. You're all ready so good.

Thanks Debbie!
If I do not attempt to learn a little since I have been on vacation for a good while, it will not happen as quickly once I return to work. I have been forcing myself to read the manual in between doing things for one of my classes.

I want to explore and experience all that this camera has to offer. It is so many fun things to do with it. I have seen great pictures on other sites and wondered how they did it.

The different manuals explain how the user can use different settings to get different looks. I will keep you posted on my progress. I may take a class in the fall to maximize my potential.
Your pictures of Izzy are always beautiful, crisp and clear.

Those are very nice Kristy. That's an awesome camera and you'll surely be able to capture many many beautiful shots with it. Do you guys have Leisure Learnig? I took some photography classes from them and it really helped me get familiar with my camera.

Hi Terrie,
Thanks!
I have not heard of Leisure Learning, but I am going to look into them to see about taking some classes. I definitely want to improve my skills. It is a lot to take in with a new camera and reading the book.

I just looked them up and it may be something just offered in your state. I did not see anything for my state. It seems like a great deal. Let me know if you find anything differently for locations. I wold love to take a few classes to help me with taking pictures.

Thanks for the helpful information! No wonder your pictures of Miss G. are always great! You took advantage of a learning opportunity to master your device. Thats exactly what I need to do!

KMR thanks,
I did not venture out too far. I was just pointing and shooting and zooming a little. Hopefully, I will have some good pictures after this weekend to post.

Hey Kristi,

No one wants to sell me the 50D! Huh? I've gone to Wolf Camera in Nashville and Best Buy at home. They insist my Rebel is good enough. Luckily, my camera was purchased some place else.

I've been looking for a macro lens instead of ordering. It's hard dealing with associates in person, so thanks for the Walmart advice. I don't go to Walmart around here, they're too crowded.

Someone tried to sell me a telephoto lens yesterday instead of the macro I was looking for. I almost bought it. I'm really didging your camera more than mine now. lol!

Angela,
I am unsure of why they will not sell you a 50D, unless they are not knowledgable about the camera. Fortunately, I was able to have a person that knew the cameras well when I went to one of the Wolf Camera stores a while back. In addition, I spoke to a local photographer that does some photography for an organization that I belong to.
I also spoke with another professional photographer.

To sum it up shortly, many of the people working in these camera stores and Best Buy may not be camera experts and may have minimal information to share.

One of the persons at another Wolf store was not helpful at all, but at another store it was different. Also, all of the stores do not sell the 50D. Hopefully, you will be able to speak with a camera expert and share with the person what your photography goals and interests are. The Rebel may suit you just fine. I hope that it all works out for you. I spent a few months researching and comparing specs to the cameras, in addition to speaking to experts. Personally, you cannot go wrong at all by keeping your camera. The Rebel is a fabulous camera. Let me know what happens.
