Creating...

Creating a space...

looking at possible bathroom options

We started looking for fabrics about two months ago. We originally decided on one color for the room and then once we arrived to one fabric store we ended up going another direction. We took pictures of different choices. We ended up going with another color and picking out different fabrics for the bedding and windows. I was actually able to get a silk fabric marked down really low and purchased the remainder of what they had left for the windows.  I still have one more fabric to find to go with the other fabrics for the bedding. Here are just a few shots of different fabrics that we took pictures of at the two fabric stores.  It was way too many to post!

We decided to go with a neutral color for the nursery early on that was more earth toned. We lightened things up a bit, and still went gender neutral safe, but decided to dress it up a bit with our fabric selections.  We really enjoyed looking for fabrics and one of the designers at the store helped us pull together things even though we really knew what we wanted. We needed books to look through for other selections for the bathroom. It is funny how things came together quickly once we changed from a fall burnt orange color to the color that we painted the room.  I would have never thought I would have gone with the color that we selected, but its the fabrics and furnishings that make the room.  While it is fun doing these things, it is truly hard work pulling together many different fabrics to bring a room together.

Once our furniture arrived in May, we decided to go with a color that would compliment the furniture since it is darker furniture and we saw it in the room. Things look differently in your home versus the store's showroom lighting and we chose a color that would look better with our furniture.  Are you able to tell which colors we went with?

All the fabrics are beautiful! Your baby is so loved already and you haven't even met him/her yet!

Thanks Kelly!
We are ready to have things in place. It takes more time pulling this stuff together than what most people think. I am so blessed to have the support of very close friends and family with this process. Yes, we are loving someone that we do not have an idea of what they look like yet. It is hard to explain, but I know you definitely understand.

I like all of them.

I had the polka dot fabric made into a roman shade for my previous house.

I love the circles and dots. They all look great together.

I found it a great way to pass the time of the wait to be working on projects. Sounds like you'll be doing the same thing.

I love the circles and the dots too! I had fun trying to pull crib bedding fabrics together when were going to paint the room the other color. I will definitely have some geometric shaped fabrics but it will have to flow with the yellow that we have. I wanted to get the first bedding set out of the way first and then I can use those type shapes.

I love the last four photo samples...so elegant. What kind of art are you going to hang up? How's the 2nd crib outfitting going at your Mom's house?

Thanks Soror E.
We wanted an elegant look. I still want to have another set done after placement.
I would love to do the crib at home in pink, green, creme fabrics with an elegant look. Since I didn't do that here trying to be safe. My bedding at home is a soft green and it would fit in perfectly with that room. I have not picked up the fabrics for that crib yet. I was trying to get these in the workroom and then I can deal with the crib at my parents in a couple of weeks and send the fabrics home to my mother to have someone locally do the bedding. I would love to have elegant pink and green fabrics there. I saw soooo many at the fabric stores when we were picking these out. I will keep you posted.

How is your bedding coming along for Princess? I remember you said you were sewing too. I cant wait to see your reveal! I went ahead and shared a little bit more than what I initially said I would, but I am not showing any more of the fabrics until everything is in and on the crib and all of the other things are done.

Hubby Designed something for the wall on the computer and it will also have a scripture written with the design as wall art. We are having it printed out and shipped to us. It will bring the wall with the crib to life and have a significant impact regarding our journey.

The other walls will consist of framed art and framed BW photos. I will keep you posted. It will be Chic and not too kiddy.

Soror, I just posted the pics for CocoPrincess' crib that is in our room. My photography isn't great and don't capture the airy-shabby-chic and peaceful feel in her area of the room but it's there. Her crib area is done up in mostly whites/creams and blues that you see coming from the waves on the beach. And her area smells so delicate from the lavender flowers.

Now for her room, it is all pink and green with touches of blue...yeah, I just had to "go that way". Her room was "gifted" by my line-sisters and women whom I met on the way of this adoption journey...it has a story in pretty much every item (that's the hippie-indie part of me).

I can't wait to see/read your word wall---I'm so excited for you two!
