I actually redecorated the bed back in April, however, I never got around to taking things out of the closet. I love changing comforters and accessorizing. I believe that I change bedding almost as much as I change under clothing! I enjoy seeing a new look in a room from season to season and seal the previous bedding in storage bags to use at a later time. The room has been shades of purple for almost 5 years and we have managed to still decorate around it. So, now, it is back to being another guest bedroom again. It will always be little Miss Sunshine's room when she comes to visit.
We are currently trying to figure out how to send her a few items when school starts so that we will know that she has clothing that will fit. I think we are going to only send 1 or 2 outfits at a time and I will have her great aunt make sure that she gets them and wears them. We do not want them sold.
Those who know me well know that I shop early and I am very savvy. By early March, I already had her summer clothes, and back to school clothes as well. She was supposed to stay here through Kindergarten. I wanted to have things prepared for back to school clothing as well since she was no longer going to be in a preschool. So, needless to say, we have many storage containers of clothing with tags. It is not in vain. The clothing will go to good use soon or later in the future. I enjoyed all of the girly items that she had and shopping for her.
I had to share a few pictures of some of my favorite items for her before we packed them away to put in the basement.
I am playing catchup with the blog. I will try to catch things up this week with all that I have been doing and what is going on with us! Stay Tuned!

Little Miss Sunshine will appreciate her clothes for school.
I find myself doing the same for Michaela, buying clothes for next year and etc. As a matter of fact I looked at a couple of the same dresses you bought for Sunshine but they were way too big even for next year.
You guys have made a lasting impression in her life. Nothing you do for a young person is ever in vain.
Angela, Thanks.
We also feel that the purchases were not in vain. She was living with us when we purchased the clothing, therefore we were anticipating and planning ahead, not knowing what was coming down the pipeline!
I purchased a lot of those little dresses to wear as tunics over jeans or cropped pants to give it a little flavor.
I plan on sifting through the things to select a couple of items to send next month for the beginning of school. I will probably send it to her paternal great aunt who keeps them from time to time and that way I will know that she gets the items and will wear them to school.
I want her to have a few new things for when school starts and feel good about herself. I know it will be a rough start being that her mother just gave birth to baby #4 last month.
I have to keep in mind that the things we will send will be for Sunshine and separate my feelings towards her mother's continued actions and lifestyle.
I believe every child should have that special person in their family or family friend to go the extra mile for them when they are growing up. I know that it makes a difference when they are old enough to realize what the person/persons have done.
I personally think it will be easier to purchase for your granddaughter once she turns 1 because her size will be a little more stable because they grow so quick during the first year. Several friends with little girls attested to that as well. However, when I see something timeless, I pick it up and purchase it because I know that I will use it one day soon.
I found it difficult trying to purchase things for later on with the adoption for a little girl. I had to stop a long time ago! I have a years worth of baby girl clothing.
Enjoy your shopping! Girls are so much easier to shop for. It is a challenge finding really nice boy clothing. I have to search high and low. However, I am getting better by the week searching ;-).
Hello SweetP - that's so cool of you to purchase those clothes and forward them to her, it would mean a lot to her. I'm just like you, I also pick up children's clothes for my future little ones, I have equal girl and boy's clothes :D
That room is so adorable, love the colours. Hope all is well!
Hi Eve,
Thanks for visiting. Actually, she was living with us when we purchased those clothes. If you want to see those entries, you can go back to March and you will see pictures of her from January through March. We will send her a few things at a time to make sure that they she receives them and wears them.
You are good. I do not have equal amounts of gender clothing as we prepare. I have way more baby girl clothing. I stopped purchasing when we moved from one program to another because an infant girl was not necessarily promised. I do have a few boy things, but not that many. That may pose a problem for me soon, however, thats the good thing about loving the shop and find bargains! When the time comes we can get our "shopping on" big time!
Thanks again for stopping by and asking how we are doing. I have been out of the loop for a minute, but I am back on track now. It has been a journey, but we have come to far to give up. We are almost at the end of the road for one journey and will be beginning another one in the near future. It has been a journey, but we are not weary!
Soror, this post touched my heart and seeing the crates full of "love" just reminds me of why we've been called into service to all mankind...even when it means putting our feelings aside. Miss Sunshine will always be a blessed child because of you two!
PS...Your lavendar and white room has inspired me in ways that I can't express in words just yet...put it like this, I needed the visual inspiration---thanks for the update!
I like the idea of wearing little dresses as tunics especially when they begin to grow out of them. Cute, cute..
Thanks for visiting Jabena!
Yes, it is emotional, but we have moved on, however we still are in the know with her educational needs. The school system in her state still contacts me regularly since I am on her records release for information. When they have concerns they call me as well.
It is also good because we were able to explain things to her mom in the past if needed since she acts as though she does not understand at times and knows everything at other times.
It is good to know that there are some concerned people out there. For the most part, I left a paper trail when she went back with her mom and the notarized letter that I typed was my reversal of guardianship back to her mom and I was very detailed in the letter and sent it to all parties involved. They knew that I was about business and meant well for this child and I want everyone to be on their toes with watching out for her well being and development and documenting anything out of order. Those are my main concerns.
She will be in the school system now and they definitely have a way of tracking things and following up on things. So, we hope that they will stay on top of it once she begins Kindergarten next month. Children need advocates when they can not speak for themselves. At this time, I am her advocate, to make sure that she gets what she needs and the assistance that she needs so the system will not fail her.
One day when she is a little older, we will be able to explain to her how we were still here even though she does not see us regularly.
Yep, Angela. They are a great way to still have an outfit! I love dresses on little girls, however, sometimes it is just inappropriate to have them in dresses every day at preschool and school when they do not understand how to cross the legs or keep their dresses down the right way.
Putting the pants or jeans under the dresses as a tunic still gives it a dainty look and makes it functional for the life of a little one that is not quite polished with their girly etiquette!
Jabena,
I am glad that you like the purple room.
My sweet Honey-Do painted that room by himself around Thanksgiving 2005. Lines and all. That was the second room that he painted in the house. Now, he has painted 97% of the rooms in the house with the exception of the 2 story Family Room and the dining room. Those were the first two rooms that we had custom painted after we moved in. After that, he did all of the rooms in our home. I am so blessed to have a hubby that is talented and does not mind assisting with decorating as well. I am in the process of wanting to change a few rooms. I will share when we are finished.
Hi Sweet P!
I love the new look of your blog. I'm a purple lover and think your guest room looks great! I hope that Little Miss is doing well. When she's older I hope she appreciates all that you've done for her.
Thanks Joyce. I am still navigating the new blog designs to try to change the whole look. I just have not taken the time to do so. I want a completely new look. I like the look of your blog as well! Thanks for stopping by. I know your little one is keeping you busy.
K, I am SOOO happy that you all decided to send Miss. Sunshine some of the pieces that you purchased...I think that this will do your heart and Mr. K's heart some good as well!!! This is all part of the process :)
And I love the color of the room...not one that you see very often!!! Smooches!!!
Hey friend,
Yes, we are going to go through the bins (as I had to purchase several more bins this week to pack all of her clothing in) and determine what few items we are going to send first. I think I will mark her name in the tag of the clothing with a permanent marker as well. We will only send a couple of basic items to get her started and we have not decided what and when yet, however, it will probably be next month.
Once I went through all of the clothing, I felt as though I needed to send a few basic items because she will truly need them and I purchased them for her while she was living here. She truly cant help her situation.
My hubby has decided that he only wants to send a few basic outfits that are less likely to be sold. So, we are in agreement. I will definitely keep you posted.
