I have been a little busy this summer taking pictures for some friends. I was asked to do two major parties earlier this summer in June. The first party was a carnival and I helped her at the last minute with some print items. The second party was the day after the carnival and it was a super hero birthday party for a little girl. Both children turned two that weekend. Here is a collage for the carnival party that I did for my friend's son's carnival. It was a well attended carnival with at least 75 beautiful little ones and tons of adults. It was the hottest day that we had experienced at that point. I made it through the afternoon in the heat getting some wonderful shots of the kids and my husband assisted me.
The carnival included an all inclusive clown with carnival. The clown brought 2 jumpers, games, music, face painted, prizes, popcorn, funnel cakes, icees, nachos and several tents set up. She had workers for all stations and the jumpers. The workers were her immediate family
(her husband and older daughters). I have been using the clown for about 4 years for my neighborhood's annual pool carnival and I love her services. She is well worth her price.
I will try to do a board to post pictures from the second party as well. After doing both parties that weekend, I was asked to do several more parties coming up this year. So, it was a good thing for me.
My love of photography as a hobby and creating print designs has turned into something that I can get compensated for as well in the future once I have perfected my skills and mastered my camera. Having the opportunities to take pictures at large parties for favors right now assists me with improving in different areas and becoming more comfortable with my camera. I am looking forward to taking a serious workshop on lighting and understanding my camera in the next two months or so.
I designed the favor tags, header for gift table and gift information card. I will post pictures of those as well. I designed a gift information card specifically for her theme because she loved having a gift information card when we did her baby shower two years ago. She said it was so helpful when writing thank you cards. She knew that she had the correct address and that she was thanking the right person for the gift. It is just something to think about when you are having large events. We had guests to fill them out when they dropped off gifts in her foyer on the gift table before heading outside to the carnival. It was quick and easy and everyone was accounted for! It is just something to think about.

I photographed this party for a very close friend of mine and she is not into the whole decorating/theme thing.
It turned out really nice and her event was very well attended. All enjoyed the carnival. The cake was wonderful. A church member of one of her other friends made he cake for a ridiculously low price! I told her since I gave her my idea for my baby's first birthday party (carnival), I am going to have to do something else and use the carnival a year or two later!
My hubby said I didn't have to because we also had plans of a mini petting zoo as a part of the carnival and a few other different things as well. I am working on a new theme now! It is all good because she is a very dear friend and I love helping others.

I am trying to really learn this camera as well as invest in a few other lenses.
I hope to get another small lens that I need for close ups next week. I am pricing some workshops that are coming into my area in the fall and I am probably going to take another short class prior to that with a local place.
My interest right now is just photographing babies and kids outside of my own household. I do not mind doing head shots for friends who need it for their business needs, but I am trying to stay focused right now on the little ones and coming off of auto and semi auto!

Thanks! The clown had them set up for musical chairs. I took these before the guests arrived. Musical chairs was a blast because there were so many kids who participated.
It took me back to Kindergarten and 1st grade. I have great pictures of the activities but too many little faces are showing. Thanks for posting and visiting.

Hey hun....I MISS YOU! The pictures for the party are FAB.U.LOUS....your camera skills are great and I love the unique shots that you chose to take. It is always the stuff that people fail to remember once the day is gone. It is also VERY kind of you and VERY smart of your friend to have someone else photograph the party...as a mom, you never even get a chance to pick up your camera when hosting an event like this one.

I have been truly relaxing (sort of kind of). Busy in my own way. You know how that goes. A lot is going on, so I will have to update you. Let's try to talk tomorrow.

I agree with you, it is very important for parents to have a photographer or a designated friend or relative to capture the event. A person that can at least operate a point and shoot proficiently, if they do not hire a photographer.
In the past when we have hosted major events, I would always forget to take pictures because I was busy hosting. However, moving forward, I will definitely have someone snapping for me at all of our upcoming events. It is just too much for me to try to get everyone when I am busy working the rooms and making sure everyone is having a good time, mingling and chit chatting. A faithful friend to take pictures is a must!
Thanks for the photo compliment. It was taken at the beach week before last. We had our family gathering again. I need to post a few pictures from that. Unfortunately a few of my pics with my hubby in our white came out dark because one of my cousins was taking the picture and did not really know how to operate it. So, I need to see if I can lighten up a few of us together. I accidentally left my tripod at home as well when we went. We had an awesome time as usual. Our session with the photographer there was cancelled on the beach because it thundered an lightened like crazy that evening and we were the last session.
We took a group picture outside in one of the common areas with the beach behind me and we had a stranger/guest walking by to take the picture with my camera. It was a trip! So needless to say, we did not get the huge picture of everyone in the sand as scheduled! Maybe later this summer at a local beach or either at our next event we can.
Glad you like the purple, lavender and creme room. That is one of the favorite colored guest rooms. It is not too bright and it is just right.
I am working on that other special room now, on paper as we are writing down the colors, designs and furniture lay out. I think that we have come to a decision. This one will not take as long as the yellow room. I have a little notebook. We are writing down things, pricing and sticking to a strict budget so that we can move forward quickly when the time arrives with it's completion. We also have some materials left over from the other room that we can use if needed with this project. I have not made it to the fabric store yet to find some inspiration fabrics. Maybe I will go this week! That should help me narrow down some things.

Yes, Sugar Baby has a huge wardrobe here packed up now. I know that does not surprise you at all. I will have some things picked out over the next few weeks to send in August.
