With all of the running around in the store and trying to decide on which furniture to order a few weeks ago, we forgot to order the mattress when we ordered !
It is not like the crib mattress is something that takes weeks to come back, but we realized it this past week when we were looking over the paperwork from our order and hubby realized that we had not ordered the mattress. It is not an issue because we can order the mattress before the furniture returns and it can get delivered at the same time.
I wanted to get some feedback from parents who have suggestions based upon the mattress that they have used for their little one. I have always read and known that mattress is an important piece that a lot of people do not consider. I guess it is just like the mattress for adults. We spend a lot of time on mattresses as adults and the support for our backs is serious.
Please let me know if you recommend any particular mattresses based upon your experience as well as any mattresses that have issues or flaws. I believe the best advice that a person can get is from people who have actually used particular products and are able to give an unbiased view. Yes, we frequent consumer reports for our purchases, but I also prefer hearing from consumers that I am in contact with.

Soror, I can't give you feedback just yet; however, we were blessed with a Serta Perfect Balance Organic Crib Mattress and a Netto Collection Organic Mattress Pad.
Now, I had never heard of an Organic Mattress nor of the Netto Designer guy/people before we were given such lovely gifts, but after reading the information we received with each gift, I'm pleased. If all goes well, I shall report back to you about both in June.
***ETA*** With my first two kiddos, I don't remember what we used for a mattress...but I do know their backs/spines are now no jokes. They can sleep on any kind of surface...with or without a mattress, just give them a pillow and a blanket and they can hit some zzzzzz.
You are funny. Actually the picture that I pulled from images is an Organic Crib Mattress. When I saw it, I was like, when did these come out! I will check them out and do my normal homework. Can't help you much Krisy, but I know any mattress should be firm and dimensionally proportionate to the crib. I think Serta is one of the better brands as well.

Thanks Angela. I am not in the know as much with the mattresses, but we are checking into things. We felt crazy after he realized we did not include that on the order.
Although, its something simple we can just add in later after we do our homework. Hubby figured that our sales rep was so into listening to us and trying meet our needs with placing the order that she probably forgot about the item. Maybe they will throw it in for free later!!

They are not that pricey and some furniture stores provide deals like that. Either way, we have to get a mattress.

Hahaha how did you forget the mattress, now that's funny. We ended up with a Serta Ultimate something or nother. It's nice and firm and she's been sleeping on it since she was 2 months old!
Hey Kristy! We purchased a Sealy mattress for our dear Kayden. It was about $100 from what I can remembered and that was considered top of the line. One piece of advice...they are hard to try out :) Have fun!

Girl, we were so overwhelmed with trying to pick out the furniture since we changed our minds on what we found back in the fall that it slipped our minds. When we got to the counter to pay, we handled our business and left. It did not hit us until later. I was ready to get out of the store by that time because we had spent a good while there trying to make a decision.
Thanks for the suggestions! I will take note. We looked at Target yesterday and Babies R Us last week. I had not done my homework or asked friends about the mattress!

I will take your advice and know that if you used it for Kayden, its great. Thanks for the suggestion. We have our list and we are checking it twice and we let you all know what we end up with. Its not a pressing purchase because we can get it fairly quickly and you are right, the prices are reasonable.
