One of my goals for 2009 was to begin scrap booking (the new way). Things have changed a lot since I was doing my own scrapbooking book in the day with a photo album and some colored construction paper! The options are plentiful now and I can be as creative as I want to be.
Last night we had to work on some scrapbook pages for a scrapbook for one of the committees that I work on to be submitted at a regional conference.
After working on the pages with the others last night, I felt encouraged to go ahead and purchase a few things to begin my collection because I have a few more pages to do this week anyway for the book that we were working on and that will give me more practice.
This afternoon my husband and I ran out to one of my favorite craft stores to pick up a few items to create a starter kit for me. We really needed to go anyway because we needed to price a scrap book cover to put our profile book pages inside to turn into the agency. In addition, this craft will come in handy as our children our growing as well as documenting everything from beginning to end with our process. Making those pages and completing a book is such a personalized item that means so much.
One of my SS's is an awesome scrapper and gave me so many great pointers last night. She's even had a few pictures of her pages in a magazine and she creates books for others, for a fee. What an awesome hobby. It something that is relaxing to do alone, and an activity that is fun to do with others. We talked about so much last night while we were scrapping.
In addition, she has an awesome store that she uses that is a scrapbookers haven! We are planning on doing a field trip soon so I can pick up some more items to build my collection. She came by this afternoon to drop off some templates to help me decide how to lay my pictures out for the committee book that we are working on finishing this week. She also brought her SLR camera to show me the settings and the different lenses. We were both loving it! We are trying to get together this week so that we can complete our pages together, if our schedules work out.
I am so excited about creating a scrapbook for our journey and creating (many) one for the baby and different unique projects for family and friends.
Here are a few pictures that I took inside of the craft store today and a few pictures of the items that we purchased to get started my collection going.
Do you recognize this store?
We were looking for a book to put our profile in.
We will look at a few more places.
These are the items that I purchased to start my little collection. A little at a time.

There is so much to buy now. I generally only buy Creative Memories but I LOVE shopping in this store as well. It's the only place that still sells scrapbook stuff here. Well except for the tiny row in the big super stores.
Have fun scrapbooking.
Yes, scrapbooking has really come a long way! I am too excited. We are supposed to go to this big store dedicated just to scrapbooking. I understand that it is a Michaels type store for scrapbooking.
I will let you know how things turn out. I am trying to do a little weekly. I am also trying to scrap our journey to adoption since I have saved all of the pictures from the time we started the process and the events in our life.
Oh - I used to scrapbook ALL the time and now - with four kiddos, the time just seems to escape me. I have also started doing more digital books instead of the actual paper type.... Good luck in your scrapbooking - it is a great hobby!
Hi Jodi,
Yeah, I am going to try to scrapbook some to capture these memories. I did see a lot of books and somethings out on digital scrapbooking, but I figured that I would wait and do some of this first and once I get a new camera and become comfortable with it, then I can get into digital photography as well.
