just in time...

for back to school project-gift for the teachers.....

This is where I have the note pads cut in half and the scrapbook paper cut in half as well as extra paper cut in half for accents.

The finished product! Not bad for a quick project done in one evening!

I put a letter H for his teacher assistant in his classroom since we used the notebook paper for her mini notebook. We also added a glue on crayon embellishment to dress up that one a little more.

I found several sites with cute back to school craft ideas and I decided to do something small for my son's preschool teachers and the administrators. He attends a private Christian Academy and he truly loves this place. He has a teacher and an assistant teacher and we also made gifts for the front desk Secretary, Director, Assistant Director, Curriculum/Instructional specialist.
I had been quite busy and did not have a lot of extra time for a time consuming craft activity. However, I found a notepad idea that I loved because it was pretty quick and fairly inexpensive.

I will try to link a few sites later that I found if anyone needs more specific directions. I am sure that this is nothing new to those who love crafts, however, I had not tried this one before. I wanted to have a little something for his teachers and admin staff during the month of September. So, I figured what a cute idea when I saw it and I figured all educators love writing pads and I am sure that his teachers are always jotting down notes.

Basically, I purchased some $1.00 writing pads from Staples and had them cut in half. I purchased some more scrap booking paper that was preschool themed or back to school themed oriented last weekend and I already had some ribbon with my scrap booking materials and I purchased a few more colors as well in solids just to have.

I made 6 different note pads (which were 3 writing pads cut in half). Staples only charged me a total of $2.00 for slicing 4 writing pads for me. I cut the scrap paper and card stock to fit the writing pad as a cover and I added other sheets to wrap around the back top to cover the original brand at the top and the back of the pad. We used double sided tape to so that we could stick the paper at the top and I wrapped satin ribbon around the different ones as a decorative element. I think that the the thing that took the longest was cutting the paper to make sure that it fit properly and cutting other smaller pieces to add as an accent paper. We also used a glue stick to add more paper to the top so that it could wrap over the top band.

The quick craft turned out nicely. My husband will be dropping these off tomorrow morning when he takes our son to school. I am looking forward to creating a few other things for them this fall at different times that do not take that long.

Here are a few of the pictures that I took tonight from the end result. I will snap a few pictures of my little one with his gifts before he goes to school to insert in this post later. I will come back and let you all know how the staff liked the mini notebooks. I enjoyed making them. I am looking forward to my next two quick gifts for his teachers since the holidays are coming around the corner.

Have you tried these before?

Nakira,
Time was limited and we just wanted some already made on paper and quick. I kind of waited until the last minute to to do this little project, but it turned out well. I will do the clipboards next and one other thing. I found some really cute paper and that made it easier.
Hubby and I are used to designing our own thing as well, but this was definitely not the time due to our schedule this time of the year and definitely his. It was a blast and they loved it.
The Asst. Director asked my husband if we could make those for the staff for Teachers appreciation. Hummm, we will see. It wasn't so bad as long as you have all of the paper, coordinating paper and ribbons already paired up. I just wanted to show them a little appreciation with a small token. One of them told my husband that they didn't want to write on the pad because it was too cute. Well, I'm glad they liked it, but the pads themselves were really inexpensive. That's what I like!

Oh, Where have you been?? Thanks for visiting.
I guess I have kind of been missing in action too. I am just so exhausted at the end of a long day, for me, that, posting is the last thing on my mind.

I am trying to do better though. If I can remember to post what I have typed and saved! I have several things to post and address in the near future! I am glad that you are back. I am glad that you think they are cute too!
