Updates..

I feel like I have been a slacker with blogging!
Anyway, I am going to bring you all up to speed really quick. I do have some faithful followers and many who email me privately, so I will do a little better with updating. I am not a daily blogger and I feel that if I do not have something meaningful to blog about, then I don't!

Here is the deal:
There are 3 families waiting for placements with my agency, including us and close friends of ours. I am unsure of who the third family is. My SW called me two weeks ago to give us updates and to see how we were doing. Basically all of the potential situations that came in decided to parent, which is a good thing.
Our SW wanted us to bring in our shorter edition of our BM letter since ours was longer than two pages in our profile. They prefer it to be shorter because in many cases the BM only has about 10 minutes or so to look through profiles when they get emergency situations, like calls from the hospital. I will take the edited version in over the holidays.

We originally said that we were going to go with another agency that did a lot of AA and biracial placements monthly, however, we decided to give our agency some time. I still follow the other agency, but I didn't want to become impatient and the fees were much more than what we already invested in our agency. So, we are holding out on that for a minute before we move forward to another agency. Although children are priceless, we have already invested in one agency, and we did not want to go overboard with fees since we want more children.
I found out that pretty much all of the private agencies here are a little slower now with getting the AA infants in now for some reason, with the exception of the county agencies in which they may be foster to adopt and that is a whole different route in some instances.

After we turned in our profile we also had an appointment with a fertility specialist and low and behold we found out the underlying issue of my delay of pregnancy which was in insulin resistance that was discovered after a 2 hour glucose test and a saline sonohystogram. It is very treatable and very common and they gave me medication to resolve the issue. They wanted me to take the medication for about 2-3 months before proceeding with TTC. I wanted to have a placement prior to moving forward with conceiving, but all things happen for a reason. So, we will see what happens.

We committed to the adoption process for over a year without TTC or seeing a specialist by choice. My plans for adopting were always there regardless and they have not changed. After we turned in our profile I moved forward with seeing the specialist and I am glad that I did. It was refreshing to find out the issue and to know that I prevented a possible medical condition such as diabetes in the future if it were left untreated. I found out after my first appointment (workup) what was my problem and I am thankful to the specialist out there who know their stuff!

I must admit that initially it was a little uncomfortable taking the step to go see the specialist because in your mind you feel like this is something you can do on your own and fertility is such a personal issue. However, once I had my first appointment I realized that it is so many more people that have difficulties with having a second child, delays conceiving period, or unexplained infertility. However, many people do not discuss their fertility issues and it appears as though everyone is fine, which is not the case.

Nursery:
Our bedding finally came in! I will be posting pictures later this afternoon of the bedding. Once the entire room is completed with all of the finishing details, I will post the room.

Been wondering how things were going.
Amazing how different states are. I know at least 3 or 4 agencies that are not accepting couples in their caucasian programs because they have too many expectant mothers of other ethnicities.
Your baby will come, whatever way God's plan is. Glad you got good news from the specialist.

Thanks Angela. We have had a lot going on, to say the least. No, I am not waiting long. We are listening to the doctor/specialist and proceeding with what we have to do. Its all good. I am still in my thirties, but its time to put a move on it!

Thanks Debbie,
Yes, the agencies are different. Our agency was pretty much only accepting families who wanted AA and biracial babies at the time. It is a season for everything.
The ones they were working with earlier decided to parent, however I guess they may have a few that they are working with now according to my husband and the information that he received from our SW. We will see what happens.
Yes, it was great to find out what was going on with me.
