We have been kind of busy preparing for something BIG!
More to come later telling how all of this happened!
Last week we received a call in regards to baby that we were interested in from the beginning when we joined our new agency last year. We had identified the baby through a friend and the rest is history, so to speak. However, back in the fall the foster mom decided that she wanted to adopt the little one and we left it alone and advised our SW that we would be open to being shown other babies and children. We knew whatever God had for us would be great.
Long story short, last week the foster parents changed her mind about adopting the little one due to their own personal reasons as they have several other children in the home. They requested that we become the adoptive parents. The agency was in support of her request because we were waiting parents being shown children anyway and they knew us very well. In addition, they knew of our initial interest in this baby when we had our home study completed. However, at that time, the foster parents stated that they were going to try to adopt the baby.
So, we were advised they are rushing our things to get approved by the state, since they had not been, due a hold up with the last supervisor not submitting them or something like that. That person is no longer with the agency as I found out last week. Anyway, we will have the little one in our home as soon as they handle the paperwork to transition the baby into our home. I will post more later as things slow down. We are preparing for the arrival, by getting the items that we do not have and making sure everything else is in place. The little one's TPR was completed back in the summer as well.
So, while we waiting for the final paperwork approval from the state, we are able to visit the baby at the foster parent's house as well to help with the transition. It works out well because they live only about 10 minutes away from us and we know each other from several years ago and we have a mutual friend. It is funny how you end up seeing people down the road in life and when you met them, you would have never guessed that you would be impacted in such a way. I will explain how all of this took place once the placement is completed. I know everything sounds short and choppy now! We have a few things to pick up to prepare for the transition into our home that can happen within a few days or at most before the end of this month as they are finalizing paperwork.
So, through this all, and we had moved on as we prayed for this child and knew that this was all in God's hands. He showed up and surprised us with this request and blessing when we least expected it. As this has once shown again, that "God's delay does not mean denied!"
I will be updating things in brief as we are transitioning and preparing for our lives to change!
Exciting, yes, however, we are calm and trying to make sure that we have things taken care of within our day to day lives to prepare for this transition. When I share this story it will truly show any believer that when you are patient, God works things out for you and it is soooooo sweet!
I can hardly wait to show pictures! Please know that my absence from blogging or short updates are due to preparing for bringing the little one into our home.
In addition, as I prepare for my birthday this week, I can't think of any greater birthday present than this!
