We decided that we definitely should go ahead and purchase at least 1 pack and play for our home.We traded in an older car seat that a close friend gave us when we had little Miss. Sunshine. We had a car seat for her, however, the friend had 3 little ones close together and had a surplus of car seats. We took that particular car seat since it was older and used and gave it to BRU. We went around the store and decided on a pack and play versus purchasing another new car seat since we definitely do not know the exact age/weight of the child that we will be getting. We have an infant car seat and we have a convertible car seat as well. We have decided that we are going to wait on purchasing 2 new car seats of our choice until we actually get a placement. We prefer to have a pack and play on each level so that we do not have to drag them up and down the steps when we are in the rooms.
We decided on a pack and play/changing station for our family room for now. We will go back and find one that matches our bedroom once we get a placement. For now, the one pack and play will be sufficient. The 20% off helped out tremendously and brought the price down. I was able to get a really nice pack and play that matched our family room decor. Our family room is earth tone type colors, so this little pack and play fit in pretty good. For the sake of taking the picture, I took a picture of the pack and play in another room against a different colored wall.
We realized yesterday that we did not have to purchase many more items, even with an emergency placement. It is only a few things that I would desire to purchase which immediately after a placement and they are the following items: 1-2 more car seats, a floor bouncer, swing, pack and play for our bedroom, and high chair. We have the majority of the items needed to get started with a newborn. I am glad that we took the time while we were waiting before to purchase basic needs.
At this point, it is hard to prepare because we are not positive on the age of the baby since we changed agencies. We are fine with it because we are prepared enough. I can't imaging trying to rush to do things now in preparation or a possible placement of birth to 2. I truly understand purchases will have to be made, however, I do not want to be swamped with having to go out and get everything at once.
Here is a picture of the pack and play that we purchased to kind of blend in with our family room. I love the fact that these little things have small compartments to organize daily essentials for a baby.

Thats cute :) I bought all sorts of things for Alayah like the swing, a motion rocker, a bouncer, a bumbo, etc...she would never let me put her down in any of them lol..
I should have just saved my money lol..silly baby girl
We have a pack and play for our house too. They're very convenient. Babies sleep right through the transport from room to room.
Wow!
She was a spoiled little "lap baby" hugh? I hope and pray that any child that comes into our home will be friends with the swing, bouncer, pack and play etc for brief periods!
I love to hold little ones, however, I know that it is not a good thing to do all day and everyday, especially if someone else has to keep them.
We will see what happens.
I agree Angela,
The pack and plays are definitely a must have. They are very convenient in rooms that you will be changing or need to place the baby in for short period. We are waiting to get the second one for our bedroom area right now since we have one already. However, we may go ahead and get another car seat and a high chair. I am not for sure which one, probably the car seat.
Kristy, what a cute pack and play and what a great deal!!! Pack and plays are wonderful...we had one upstairs and downstairs when Kayden was a baby! So glad that things are happening for you guys and look forward to catching up very soon!
And I have a great recommendation for a high chair...it is one of those that sits in a kitchen chair! I will tell you more about it when we chat! And I deleted the first post some how...go figure!
Hi Nak,
Thanks. Yes, we did get it for a great deal. We are waiting to get the one for upstairs for our bedroom once we know what is really going on and fortunately, our basement is not complete at this time, so I don't need one for that floor yet, thank God. It would be a must to have one for different levels. Everyone says they are life savors having them on your home's different levels. I definitely cant see dragging one from level to level. They are great.
I have seen a few of those booster chair seats and infant seats. I am not going with that one for our first choice right now because I have custom upholstered seats for my kitchen chairs. Not a good move for us. I have used one in my home when my parents brought Sunshine's siblings to visit last New Years.
We used it once I think the weekend they were visiting. I didn't particularly care having it sit in the seat like it did. I know that most of the food was caught by the tray, however, the child was not a messy eater and I just see it as a disaster for upholstered chairs on a daily basis. It is just my opinion, however, I would definitely used the booster type feeding seat elsewhere at my parents home because their chairs are wooden and not upholstered at the kitchen table.
We found a really nice high chair to our liking and has great ratings that we will purchase to fall in to our kitchen scheme. I think it will work fine with the different positions, settings and ease of cleaning along with me purchasing a little mat to go under it to catch the food from a messy eater. I also prefer the high chair when you need to work on something structured with a younger child and you need for them to be confined and learn to stay put for a few minutes while you work on an activity with them.
