Six years ago (May 8) on a beautiful Saturday evening, I exchanged wedding vows with my Best Friend. Without God in the center of our lives, we clearly would not have made it, and we would not be at the level of togetherness we are now. It has only gotten better and we are looking forward to the next phase of our life by adding to our family in special ways.
Yes, our wedding was Mother's Day weekend, which made it extra special and we could not have asked for a more beautiful event with perfect weather. I have to give a lot of the credit to one of the best wedding event planners/event coordinators in the country (in my opinion) for making our day a perfect day.
We feel our process will be the same way, in God's time and made perfectly for us. We have prayer over our lives and favor from God, and we don't doubt that his time is the best time, just as our special day was orchestrated.
I thought I would share a picture that I have not shared before, only for a day or two, being that we are kind of private people. We were featured in a wedding magazine 6 years ago as Real Couples with our wedding event. Yes, I have blurred out my hubby's name and I cut off the article to give us a little more privacy. This is my blog and not his, and I respect that. Those who really know us, know who we are. I apologize for taking a picture of the magazine, but that was the quickest way for me to post it!
I plan on posting something soon on what has been going on with us and our process.

Yes, it was a happy day and I can't believe it has been 6 years! We all had a ball with all of our friends and family who came from near and far!

I didn't realize how big of a kool aid smile I had until yesterday. The photographer said something "fresh" to the entire wedding party and we all fell out laughing. It was a large group picture after the wedding.

The picture is actually a picture of the magazine that we were featured in, not a mock up picture!
We were featured in The Knot wedding magazine under Real Couples the Spring after we got married. I took a picture of the magazine and article to post here and I blurred out hubby's name and cut off the article since it is on my blog and my blog is not private. I didn't find a need to let all show to have everyone in blogland know who we are and what we do. You know what I mean?
It was a kind of a big deal because even back in 2004, a lot of the major wedding magazines were not showing brides of color as much and their weddings. Ours made it via our photographer's submission and information sent to them after we were chosen about the engagenent and wedding. We are private, however, I did it.
So, it kind of nice for others to see real brides of color.
However, the full article is out there! My wedding coordinator has it under editorials on her website, as she has a lot of weddings that made it to magazines and on tv and a few more vendors had it listed on their sites. We were sent a complimentary copy before it hit the newstands and I took a picture of that copy!
